Iris Kyle, Candice Keene and Tanji Johnson each won their respective divisions at the 2013 Arnold Sports Festival on Saturday night in Columbus, Ohio.
The Ms. International win was the record-setting seventh for Kyle, who is in the midst of one of the most dominant – if not the most- run in IFBB history. Combined with her eight Olympia wins, Kyle is now the most decorated competitor in any of the IFBB Pro League’s seven divisions.
Keene, who won the biggest title of her career on her 29th birthday, came out on top in the Figure International over a field that included two-time Figure Olympia Erin Stern. Stern came in off from her Olympia-winning form, giving Keene all the room she needed after placing third at the last year’s Figure International. But the bigger surprise was Heather Dees inching past Stern in the final standings by a single point. It was the first time Stern failed to place in the top two of a contest since the 2009 Olympia, a string of 16 contests.
Tanji Johnson finally stood atop the winner’s podium in Columbus in her 10th attempt at winning the Fitness International. Johnson has experienced more than her share of close calls over the years, finishing as the runner-up four times in this contest. Johnson took the stage in what was her best condition in recent memory, then held off hard-charging Oksana Grishina in the routine round.
