NPC AND IFBB PRO LEAGUE CRITERIA FOR JUDGING WOMEN’S FIGURE COMPETITORS

  1. Criteria for Judging Female Physiques:
    1. Muscularity – the amount of muscle will vary between the divisions
    2. Condition- will vary depending on the division
    3. Symmetry and Balance
    4. Presentation (Posing)
  1. Figure
    1. Figure athletes should display-
  1. An overall balance of muscular development which includes rounded delts, sweep to the quads, back depth, and width – emphasis is on balance and symmetry
  2. Small amount of muscle separation
  • A nice “V” taper
  1. Tight glutes with separation between the hamstring and glute area
  2. Balance between the upper and lower body
    1. Figure athletes should NOT display
  1. Striations or graininess
  2. Muscularity thickness associated with Women’s Physique

NPC MEMBERSHIP

Each competitor must be a member of the NPC.

NPC FIGURE COMPETITOR RULES

  • Competitors will compete in a two-piece suit. The bottom of the suit must be v-shaped. No thongs are permitted. Competitors can compete in an off the rack suit. All swimsuits must be in good taste.
  • Figure will not have a routine round.
  • Competitors must wear high heels.
  • Competitors may wear jewelry
  • NATIONAL LEVEL contests do not permit competitors to crossover into Bodybuilding, Fitness or Bikini at the same event. All other competitions are permitted to have crossovers at the discretion of the promoter with appropriate approval.

FIGURE HEIGHT CLASSES

For national level contests that are professional qualifiers:

  • Up to and including 5’1”
  • Over 5’1” and up to and including 5’2-1/2”
  • Over 5’2-1/2 and up to and including 5’4”
  • Over 5’4” and up to and including 5’5-1/2”
  • Over 5’5-/12 and up to and including 5’7”
  • Over 5’7”

A promoter can choose to have fewer height classes for non national level contests as follows:

  • Up to and including 5’4”
  • Over 5’4”
  • Up to and including 5’4”
  • Over 5’4” and up to and including 5’6”
  • Over 5’6”
  • Up to and including 5’2”
  • Over 5’2” and up to and including 5’4”
  • Over 5’4” and up to and including 5’6”
  • Over 5’6”

CHECK-INS

Figure division competitors will be checked in and measured.

FIGURE COMPETITION JUDGING

Competitors will walk to the center of the stage alone and perform quarter (1/4) turns, face the judges as directed then proceed to the side of the stage.

  • Competitors will be judged wearing a two-piece swimsuit and high heels
  • The competitors will be brought back out in a group and directed to do quarter turns
  • Judges will have the opportunity to compare competitors against each other in quarter turns.

Judges will be scoring competitors using the following criteria:

  • Small degree of muscularity with separation, no visible striations
  • Overall muscle tone with shapely lines, overall firmness and not excessively lean
  • Full general assessment
  • Healthy appearance
  • Make-up
  • Skin tone

QUALIFICATIONS

Who Qualifies for Figure National Level Competitions?

Beginning January 1, 2018 athletes must place top 2 in an open class at a National Qualifier to be qualified for any National show. All athletes that qualified in 2017 for a National contest are eligible to compete in in a National Contest in 2018. Also, athletes that place 3rd, 4th or 5th place at the USA or Nationals are also qualified for one year.

  • NPC fitness contest you entered
  • Date of your contest
  • Contest promoter
  • Your height class and final placing

I am very happy to announce that the 2019 NPC Contest Season will be the biggest and best ever. If you are a United States Citizen you have the ability to qualify to compete for IFBB Professional League status in the following (10) events.

  • 2019 NPC Arnold Amateur (Columbus, Ohio)
  • 2019 NPC Junior USA Championships (Charleston, South Carolina)
  • 2019 NPC Junior National Championships (Chicago, Illinois)
  • 2019 NPC Universe Championships & NPC National Fitness Championships (Teaneck, New Jersey)
  • 2019 NPC Masters National Championships (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania)
  • 2019 NPC USA Championships (Las Vegas, Nevada)
  • 2019 NPC North American Championships (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania)
  • 2019 NPC Olympia Amateur (Las Vegas, Nevada)
  • 2019 NPC National Championships (Miami, Florida)
  • 2019 NPC Masters USA Championships (Los Angeles, California)

 

(If you achieve a Pro Card at one of these events then you are eligible to compete under the rules and regulations of the IFBB Professional League.)

The 2019 IFBB Professional League has worked diligently to increase the number of contests and prize money.
This year the prize money, including the Mr. Olympia, will be a record $4 million dollars plus!  IFBB Professional League Contest Schedule.

International competitors and those that possess a Green Card, but not United States Citizenship, who would like to qualify for the IFBB Professional can compete in the following (3) NPC sanctioned events.

  1. 2019 NPC Arnold Amateur (Columbus, Ohio)
  2. 2019 NPC North American Championships (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania)
  3. 2019 NPC Olympia Amateur (Las Vegas, Nevada)

 

International competitors also have the opportunity to compete and earn a pro card currently in over 60 IFBB Professional League Qualifier Events around the world.
