RETURNING TO THE STAGE “2007 was my last show, I took a break after that to focus on my acupuncture career. I started my own business and after that, decided I wanted to get back into competing. I have a gymnastics background but always competed in figure. I had always thought about doing fitness. I love to dance and being able to put my own personality into a routine, having that experience, that’s what I wanted to do. It’s definitely harder on the body but it’s a lot more fun.”

UNFINISHED BUSINESS  “I like the competition and the drive, and having a goal to focus on. It’s a goal of mine to turn pro. I knew I wasn’t done with competing and I wanted to get back into that shape again, too. It was kind of an unfinished goal never competing in fitness, and that’s always been something I wanted to do.”

OVERALL WINNER It was probably one of the most rewarding wins for me, even though there weren’t a ton of other girls. But I reached my goal and accomplished what I was settting out to do and felt pretty successful at it as well It was the whole process along the way, and I had a lot of fun with the journey there.

REAPING THE REWARDS I work 40-50 hours a week. It definitely becomes difficult in terms of getting up at five in the morning to get your cardio in before work and not getting to gym until 8:30 at night. You just have to set a schedule and stay committed to that. The outcome, the reward and the feeling of accomplishment when you’re done make it all worthwhile.
