The Arnold Classic Europe hits Madrid this weekend, with roughly 50 of the IFBB Pro League’s best ready to take the stage.
MEN’S BODYBUILDING
Shawn Rhoden, fresh off his third-place finish at the Olympia two weeks ago, makes the trip across the Atlantic looking for his third win of the 2012 season. This will be the sixth contest of the year for Rhoden, who also plans on competing next weekend in Britain.
He’ll have to hold off a hungry Dennis Wolf, looking for redemption after a disappointing sixth-place finish at the Olympia, and Toney Freeman, on the heels of placing third at the Sheru Classic a week ago. Lionel Beyeke, Roelly Winklaar, Hidetada Yamagishi and Johnnie Jackson are just some of the big names slated to compete.
FIGURE
In Figure, newly-crowned Figure Olympia winner Erin Stern looks to continue her impressive 2012 season. With one more win, she will tie Nicole Wilkins for the most in a season – five. She’ll have to hold off Candice Keene in order to match that mark. Keene is coming off consecutive third-place finishes at the Olympia and the Sheru Classic.
FITNESS
Seven-time Olympia winner Adela Garcia headlines the Fitness lineup. Garcia, who hasn’t lost since 2007, is looking for her ninth straight victory. Three other top-five Olympians will make the trip – including runner-up Oskana Grishina, Tina Durkin (3rd) and Tanji Johnson (5th).
