NPC Contest Preview: Nine Contests Starting Today!

It’s another big weekend in the NPC, as nine contests are slated to take place across the country. Check out all of the events below!

EMPIRE CLASSIC: AIRWAY HEIGHTS, WASHINGTON
The 11th annual NPC Empire Classic will be held at Northern Quest Resort & Casino on Saturday, April 28th. With over 230 entries, Spokane is preparing for its largest bodybuilding turnout ever! Competitors from all over the Northwest will converge this weekend to step on stage in front of a sold-out crowd of over 1200 spectators. Both competitors and spectators alike will enjoy their stay at the luxurious four-diamond hotel, connected directly to the venue.

Guest posers for the Empire Classic include national competitors Brian Yersky, courtesy of MetRx and Mell “Swat Dog” Taylor. The 2nd annual GNC Pro-Deadlift will also take place at 7:30pm, bringing five top USAPL deadlifters to the main stage battling for $2500 in prize money.

FOX CITIES SHOWDOWN: LITTLE CHUTE, WISCONSIN
Now in it’s 17 year, the Fox Cities Showdown keeps getting better – participation numbers for this weekend have doubled since last year’s Fox Cities Showdown as roughly 100 athletes are expected to compete! The venue has already sold out, as spectators will get a glimpse of special guests and IFBB Pros Fouad Abiad and Amamda Latona. Fitness celebrity Jennifer Nicole Lee will also be on hand to give a free seminar after the prejudging. Past guest posers at the Fox Cities Showdown include Evan Centopani, Gustavo Badell and Quincy Taylor.

VERMONT CHAMPIONSHIPS: SOUTH BURLINGTON, VERMONT
In only it’s second year, the Vermont Championships will have quite a roster of IFBB Pros in attendance this weekend. Rookie IFBB Pro Juan Morel makes a guest posing appearance just three weeks out from his debut at the New York Pro. IFBB Bikini Pros Tianna Ta and Heidi Sullivan will be on hand as judges, and NPC National Fitness Competitor Lishia Dean will join Morel as the event’s second guest performer.

“This is going to be a very exciting contest,” promoter Mike Feulner says. “We have competitors coming from as far away as Alaska.”

MAX MUSCLE VIRGINIA CLASSIC: WOODBRIDGE, VIRGINIA
With former IFBB Pro Figure competitor Corry Matthews, it’s no surprise that the largest number of competitors for the Max Muscle Virginia Classic will be in the Figure and Bikini divisions. “This will be a very ‘female’ oriented show,” Matthews says, “but there will be a Men’s Physique category for the first time!” Rookie IFBB Pro Jon De La Rosa, the USA Heavyweight champ, will guest pose just three weeks out from making his pro debut at the NY Pro.
