EARLY START “Growing up I was in gymnastics and then switched to cheerleading in high school, both of which I loved! I was always pretty athletic growing up and I also played volleyball and tennis. I attempted to play basketball and tried out for the school team but that was a huge fail!”
LOOK LIKE A GODDESS “I ended up quitting cheerleading my sophomore year in high school and realized that I need to replace it with some activity kind of activity so I started running and going to the gym. I remember lifting weights for the first time and I had no idea what I was doing! For many years I stuck to the weight machines and was too scared to touch free weights. In college I read a book written by Lou Schuler that changed my gym routine it was called, The new Rules of Lifting for Women: Lift Like a Man Look Like a Goddess. That book changed my idea of weight lifting and got me out of the machines and into the free weights. I was hooked on weight lifting after that!”
MUSCLE AND CURVES “I have always been interested in health and fitness. In college I studied Kinesiology and I loved going to the gym, but it was a picture of Nathalia Melo that really inspired me to look into competing. I also wanted to get involved in the fitness industry and learn more about it. I love the Bikini Division because it blends together muscle with curves and who doesn’t love muscle and curves?!”
STRIVE TO INSPIRE “The part I love most about competing is getting the chance to be a healthy role model and to hopefully inspire other women like my role models did for me! There are so many women who inspire me, Nathalia Melo, Amanda Latona, Nicole Nagrani, Ana Delia De Iturrondo,
and India Paulino to name a few!”
PLANNING AHEAD “Next I plan to compete at Nationals in South Carolina. My goal for 2013 is definitely to earn my Pro Card!”
