FIGURE

Last year’s top two finishers – Show of Champions Figure winner Cheryl Brown and runner-up Candice Keene – return for a repeat performance. Brown edged past Keene a year ago, but since then Keene has been on a tear – a run that includes a win at the 2011 Phoenix Pro, a fourth-place finish at the Olympia and an impressive third-place finish at the Figure International in March.

MEN’S PHYSIQUE

Mark Anthony Wingson impressed two weeks ago when winning the IFBB Pro Grand Prix, and he returns here to solidify his place as one of the top competitors in the newly-formed division. Through two contests that’s prevent to be more difficult than it sounds, as the order at the top of the lineup from the Grand Prix was drastically different than it was at the Governor’s Cup. Collin Humphrey, who placed third at the Pro Grand Prix, will also compete, as will 2011 USA Overall winner Deniz Duyugu and 2011 Nationals Overall winner Matt Acton.

WOMEN’S PHYSIQUE

Patricia Mello headlines a lineup of 20 competitors, the largest Women’s Physique lineup to date. Mello placed second at the Pro Grand Prix two weeks ago and showed flashes of potential. She’ll have to improve her posing and watch her level of conditioning, but if she can find that balance Mello could become the third competitor to win an IFBB Pro Women’s Physique contest.

212 MEN’S BODYBUILDING

It’s the second contest of the year in the – relatively – new 212 Division. The weight limit increase, up from the original 202 pounds, went into effect for the first time at last November’s Sacramento Pro. Al Auguste won the first 212 contest of 2012 in late February at the Desert Muscle Classic in Phoenix. He returns here in an attempt to become the first 212 competitor with multiple wins. 2012 NPC Nationals Light Heavyweight champ Marco Rivera makes his pro debut.
